TieOut is committed to transparency about how we use cookies and browser storage. This policy explains what data is stored in your browser and why.
Essential Cookies Only
TieOut uses minimal browser storage exclusively for essential functionality:
- Theme preference: Stores your dark/light mode choice in
localStorage - Session management: Stripe session IDs for payment processing (if you purchase a plan)
- Waitlist signups: Temporarily stores waitlist email (base64-encoded) locally before submission
What We Do NOT Use
TieOut does not use:
- Marketing or advertising cookies
- Third-party analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.)
- Tracking pixels or cross-site cookies
- Social media cookies
Your File Data
Critical: When you upload a CSV file for scanning, the file contents remain entirely in your browser's memory during processing. Your file is:
- Never uploaded to TieOut servers
- Never stored in cookies or localStorage
- Never transmitted anywhere (only a cryptographic digest is sent for verification)
- Permanently deleted when you close the browser tab
Managing Cookies
You can clear all TieOut browser data at any time through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data
- Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Clearing cookies will reset your theme preference and remove any stored session information, but will not affect your account or entitlements.
